Focused Light Supplies was born from a practical problem Allen ran into: importing high-quality K9 optical crystal, month after month, in volumes larger than any single workshop needs. Rather than let that excess go to waste, Allen turned it into a dedicated supply line for the laser engraving community, the same community he’s part of.

That decision didn’t come out of nowhere. It came from real frustration Allen ran into as an engraver himself, and three problems he kept seeing across the community:

Many products marketed as K9 crystal were actually ordinary glass (not suitable for internal engraving), a problem that was especially frustrating for Allen when he was first learning to use his UV laser since there was no reliable way to tell which companies/stores were selling real K9 crystal and which were selling fake K9.

Pricing from U.S. suppliers was excessively high, and shipping costs on top of that made quality crystal even harder to justify.

High-quality K9 crystal is readily available from manufacturers in China, but three-month shipping times and high minimum order quantities put it out of reach for most individual makers.

Focused Light Supplies was created to bridge that gap by offering verified K9 crystal at fair prices, with delivery in under a week and order quantities that make sense for hobbyists and small businesses.

Focused Light Supplies is a side business that I operate alongside my primary business of creating laser-engraved and UV-printed products. That helps keep the mission straightforward: this isn't about maximizing sales volume, it's about providing a dependable supply of quality K9 crystal at prices that respect the maker community. That community already includes members of the xTool F2 Ultra UV Maker group, who receive exclusive discounts on crystal blocks and spheres.

Every crystal block, sphere, and keychain blank Allen sources is chosen with one filter in mind: will this help someone else’s engraving work turn out better? Operating outside the reach of mass overseas resellers, Focused Light Supplies keeps shipping domestic. U.S.-only, since crystal is heavy and freight outside the continental U.S. quickly becomes impractical and keeps pricing honest, with an open invitation for customers to flag anywhere a better price exists.

The belief driving it forward is simple: when more people have access to decent pricing on high-quality K9 crystal, everyone wins. More engravers experimenting means better workflows across the board and, eventually, better and more affordable point cloud software for the whole community.
